A Steward Class for Local Union Journeyman will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 8:00 am at Local 112's office. With so many jobs currently going strong in our jurisdiction, we are in need of Stewards to assist the Local Union and the membership on issues that come up on the job. If you are interested in becoming a Steward or if you are currently a Steward, please consider coming to this class. It will be taught by International Reps. WE ARE READY TO GO - TAKE ACTION NOW TO PARTICIPATE
This year's negotiations for the Basic Inside Agreement includes a new option to particpate in the National Electrical 401k Plan and we are ready to go. Particpation in this plan is optional. If you choose to participate, the contribution will be 5% of your pre-taxed gross wages.
Enrollment forms are now available to enroll in the program. Complete the form and return to the address or e-mail on the bottom of the form and keep a copy to give your employer. Contributions will be deducted at 5% of gross wages effective with July 2, 2018. We will let you know when more details are available.
WASHINGTON STATE PAID SICK LEAVE ACT 2018
The new Washington State Sick Leave Act comes into effect on January 1, 2018 and there have been many questions concerning this new law. The Dept. of Labor & Industries has provided information on their web site, which will provide answers for both employees and employers.

OREGON IMPLEMENTS PROVISIONAL RECIPROCAL JOURNEYMAN LICENSE WITH WASHINGTON !!
The State or Oregon has implemented a Provisional Reciprocal Journeyman License. This application process will be available through February 8, 2019. You must have completed a recognized Washington Apprenticeship Program in order to be eligible. This license will expire on August 31, 2021 and is not eligible for renewal. This rule does not change the existing options for persons wishing to obtain an electrical license under the current status.
NEW MATERIAL HANDLERS CLASSIFICATION - INSIDE BASIC AGREEMENT Negotiations for the Inside Basic Agreement were recently completed and approved by Local 112's membership. As a result, we now have a new classification of Material Handler, effective June 1st. We have an Out-of-Work book for applicants to sign . Must be at least 18 years of age. HELP PROTECT YOUR FAMILY The IBEW has joined the National Child ID Program to help protect our children. Every year over 800,000 children go missing in the US and another 50,000 in Canada. Child ID kits are available at the hall and union meetings. You can fingerprint your child, and in case of an emergency, turn it over to authorities to help in locating a missing child.
